Pandrol VANGUARD track fastening system: Reducing track-induced vibration levels in tunnels - This article describes a number of measurements of vibrations on slab track, mostly in tunnels, for a wide range of track designs and track stiffnesses. From these measurements, an approximate relationship between track stiffness and vibration level on the slab can be estimated. The measurements show that significant reductions in the vibration level are possible by employing a new technology that reduces the track stiffness to levels lower than have until recently been possible. This is the Pandrol VANGUARD track fastening system, which is also described in this article.
