Report presents comparative analysis of two approaches to calibration of synthetic-aperture radar (SAR). Performed in context of NASA/JPL SAR system mounted in DC-8 airplane, also applicable to any polarimetric SAR system of similar design. Demonstrates functional equivalence of two approaches to calibration. In one, known as Klein's approach, SAR data calibrated supplied in scattering-matrix format. Other named after van Zyl, data calibrated supplied in Stokes-matrix (compressed) format.
