Shuttle transportation derivatives based on the National Space Transportation System are described in terms of the 'Block-II' system and the possible architectures. The evolutionary strategy is based primarily on a liquid-rocket-booster system, a propulsion module, and a Block-II orbiter that can accommodate a range of mission payloads. The derivative systems are shown to offer enhanced capabilities with relatively low development costs and at minimum risk.
