The current status of the NASA auxiliary and primary electric propulsion programs is reviewed. Plans for continuation of these programs and future target goals are also outlined. In auxiliary propulsion, progress on the ion engine flight experiment for the Application Technology Satellite (ATS)-F launch in 1974 to demonstrate North-South station keeping capability is reviewed. In addition, work on small pulsed plasma thrusters and hydrazine resistojets for attitude control applications are also described. In primary propulsion, the effort aimed at demonstrating the technology for solar electric propulsion is presented.
