This report presents the results of a program conducted by Garrett to investigate a dual-channel fuel control for gas turbine engines which could be used in military ground vehicles. The program presents a control system with requirements that are deemed necessary to provide a military gas turbine-powered vehicle with battlefield survivability and minimal restriction on the capability of completing the vehicle mission. This study showed that a parallel dissimilar technology backup control was the desirable approach and that fluidics was the ideal technology to perform this function due to its low cost, reliability, immunity to radiation, and ability to perform computation and logic commensurate with the requirements of achieving mission completion with no degradation in the vehicle's battlefield survivability.
