Lateral-directional handling qualities for Class 4 airplanes in Flight Phase Category A were investigated in the USAF/CAL variable stability NT-33A airplane. The primary purpose was to extend the data base for roll-sideslip coupling requirements specified by MIL-F-8785B(ASG) for this Class of airplanes. Other purposes included evaluation of the minimum Dutch roll frequency and damping requirements of MIl-F-8785B (ASG) for Class 4 airplanes in Flight Phase Category A and an investigation of the applicability of MIL-F-83300 roll-sideslip requirements to airplanes in high speed flight conditions.
