The following list is the set of objectives set forth in the project. The FOIL facility is now operating and collecting data on impact performance of various types of luminaire support hardware. To investigate the impact behavior of ninisized vehicles with breakaway luminaire supports for frontal and side impacts. To design, build, and operate an outdoor impact facility for testing minisized vehicle impacting sign and luminaire supports in both frontal and side impact modes. To design, build, and test a bogie vehicle to serve as a surrogate for vehicles in the 1400 to 2800 pound (636-1271 kg) weight range. To design, build, and test a rigid instrumented pole for determining the crush characteristic of vehicle impacting narrow objects. To design, build, and test a device to measure vehicle inertial properties including CG location and mass moment of inertia in yaw, pitch, and roll. To relocate the FHWA pendulum facility to the TFHRC. To design and implement a data acquisition system for data colltion, data processing, and display of impact test data.
