A special underwater gravimeter with a capacitive ultramicrometer, DGPE, was constructed at the NIIGR in 1953. The DGPE underwater gravimeter together with its sealed chamber and tripod weighs only 60 kg. The gravimeter itself with thermostat and gimbals weighs about 10 kg. Remote control of the instrument is provided by means of a control box located on board ship through four wires. Alkaline accumulators and dry-anode batteries serve as power-supply. (Author)
