The AN/UAS-4 IR and AO-1C Airplane are airborne components of an infrared surveillance system. The AO-1C is a two-place, twin-turboprop airplane built by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation. It was designed to operate from small, unimproved fields and is primarily a combat surveillance airplane. The AN/UAS-4 was tested by the US Army Airborne, Electronics, and Special Warfare Board (USAAESWBD) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, beginning in April 1962, with the assistance of a project officer from the Aviation Board. The report of this test as submitted by the USAAESWBD is presented in appendix D. The conclusions and recommendations pertaining to the AN/UAS-4 may be found in this appendix.
