The report also outlines the current rate of travel within various corridors of the Knoxville community and offers a detailed summary of the benefits of ridesharing in terms of congestion, fuel consumption, present and future highway capacity, and public acceptance of ridesharing. The report examines the legal and institutional constraints which are currently inhibiting the development of various ridesharing alternatives and offers recommendations for improving public transportation in Knoxville.
