A summary of the significant test results from the skid-resistance test program conducted to support the F-4 rain tire program is presented. Testing was conducted with both the mu meter and diagonally braked vehicle (DBV). The results of the testing indicated that the traction properties generally decrease toward the touchdown end of the 8000-foot aircraft test area. This was a result of the water being applied in a direction toward the touchdown end of the test section. A potential for hydroplaning does exist in these ranges of skid-resistance values, and the wet conditions present during the F-4 rain tire program are considered representative of a potential hazardous runway condition.
