Navigating in shallow or harbor waters a vessel may hit an underwater obstacle (rock, underwater structure, etc). As a consequence its hull may be damaged. It may be a dent or tearing along the hull plating. Anyway, a kind of penetration of the obstacle into initial undamaged hull surface occurs. This penetration produces a certain force that, depending on its magnitude, changes vessel position and motion. Actually a process of penetration and force formation are considered in a subroutine related to the main code of vessel navigation. Model testing provides constitutive relation between penetration and resulting force.
