The conference was divided into three sections: aerospace, air quality, and aviation. The aerospace section consisted of seven sessions including two panel discussions. These sessions were: meteorological support problems, space shuttles and orbiting laboratories, atmospheric sounding measurements in situ, satellite remote soundings, a panel discussion on satellite remote soundings, atmospheric structure and circulation, and a panel discussion on persistent deficiencies in data required for aerospace applications. Two sessions on air quality reviewed the various effects that aircraft can have on the atmospheric environment in its broadest sense. In the aviation section about 40 papers and 3 panel discussions provided the stimulus for the attendees to talk about terminal weather, turbulence, icing, hail, CAT, wind shear, and other atmospheric phenomena as they relate to safe and efficient movement of aircraft.
