An analysis of Georgia's interstate truck weighing data is made to determine the effects of the factors of average annual daily traffic (AADT), percentage of trucks, and geographical area. The results will be used in selecting the number and location of permanent interstate truck weighing stations in Georgia. An analysis of variance design is used to study the effects of the chosen factors on average weights, accumulative weights, and 18 Kip axle equivalent loads for both rigid and flexible pavement. The design is broken into the different classes of trucks and the direction of travel. A study of the distribution of truck weights by truck classification is also made using histograms. The histograms are broken into single axle, tandem axle, and total truck weight for studying the percentage of trucks in violation of Georgia law. A general conclusion of the study was that the factors of area, AADT, and percentage of trucks had no significant effect on interstate truck weighing in Georgia for research purposes. (Author)
