The report is a scenario of Motor Truck Transportation in 1995. It reviews briefly the history of transportation and the development of roads and motor vehicles leading up to the Futurama Exhibit at the New York World's Fair in 1939. It compares the environment of Futurama's 20-year projections with today's, and trucking's changing priorities. The report projects a doubling of motor truck transportation by 1995, only a small portion of which will be achieved by building more highways. New engines, larger trucks, automated intermodal consolidation terminals and increased computerization will increase productivity. A relative decrease in auto traffic is projected. Capital problems and some deregulation of the industry are projected to result in consolidation of trucking companies.
