A report on the German Saenger spaceplane system is presented. Saenger must be able to carry payloads into space at a lower cost than that offered by the Ariane 5/Hermes system, and must also be a basis for hypersonic passenger transportation. The first concept, designated EHTV (Eurepean Hypersonic Transport Vehicle) is described. A discussion on Saenger versus the NASP (National Aero Space Plane) of NASA is included.
