Ship control, navigation, viewing systems, sonar, countermeasures, weapon control, communications, radar, computers, operating procedures, and reliability were all studied and integrated into the preliminary design of an instrumentation system for an ASW submarine. New approaches were considered to improve efficient utilization of equipment and manpower in many of the subsystem studies as well as in the over-all system planning. (Author)
