The report covers research and investigation into the technical and economic feasibility and best technical approach for development of a synthetic flight training system. Required system characteristics are enumerated. Digital computers, trainee stations, instructor's consoles, motion platforms and other system components are evaluated in the light of SFTS requirements. Techniques for automatic demonstration of training problems and a concept for idioadaptive training are described. An outcome of the study of components and techniques is a recommended system for development. (Author)
