The objectives of the study were (1) to determine the likelihood of motion sickness among combat troop passengers in certain Army aircraft expected to be available in the 1970-75 time frame, and (2) if this likelihood should be significantly high, to describe means of amelioration. The methods employed were as follows: (1) A review of the pertinent aeromedical literature was conducted; (2) During the literature review, the motion sickness phenomena described in the literature were related to available information on the flight envelopes anticipated for the aircraft involved; (3) Upon completion of the literature review, consultations were held with members of the staff of the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory and the U.S. Naval Aerospace Medical Institute.
