The second volume of the final report on a four-year study of drinking drivers includes a brief description of a prediction model developed from over 4000 cases, including drinking drivers, recidivist drinking drivers and drivers license applicants who had never been convicted of drunk driving. Tables of probabilities of being a drunk driver (as opposed to not being a drunk driver) and of being a recidivist drunk driver (as opposed to a one-time drunk driver) are presented. The five variables used in the prediction model are; education, total number of minor traffic violations, age, number of accidents, and total number of non-traffic arrests. The probabilities associated with all possible combinations of characteristics on these five variables are presented, along with a brief description of how they might be used as aids to administrative or judicial decisions.
