Abstract At present, scientific discussion centers too much on methods of evaluation rather than purposes of evaluation. The objective of this paper is to initiate a discussion about the main aim of driver improvement courses as a necessary starting point for course construction and evaluation. An evaluation is not possible without a clear definition of the aim of the courses and a consistent program for the courses.
