These notes are designed to provide under one cover the status of superpressure balloon technology. For a number of years the promise of long duration flight with superpressure balloons has been taken on faith alone. Between March, 1966, and March, 1967, 85 flights were made in the southern hemisphere under the auspices of the New Zealand Meteorological Service, the Environmental Science Services Administration, and the National Science Foundation. The flight program was conducted by the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The technical note is a collection of previous reports and articles which have been updated on the basis of the Southern Hemisphere GHOST (Global HOrizontal Sounding Technique) flight program.
