The concept formulation was developed to determine the technical feasibility, economic and military training considerations related to the development of the Synthetic Flight Training System (SFTS). Trainer performance, operating characteristics and training technology were analyzed to determine SFTS requirements and implementation techniques. Configurations were synthesized and compared in trade-off analysis and the best technical approach was selected to provide common modules for the trainer. (Author)
