The use of hyrbid electromagnetic coupling (HEMAC) couplers on vehicles at VHF is promising, as shown herein. Most tests of HEMAC coupled vehicles were made using PRC-25 Transceivers within a 3/4-mile radius and indicate that some configurations, notably the 10-coil array, are nearly as effective as a whip antenna for communication purposes. However, the most flexible and feasible configuration developed to date is the vehicular doorslot antenna, mostly due to its simplicity of design and tuning characteristics. The doorslot antenna powered by a VRC-12 Transceiver has been tested thus far within a 7-mile range and found to be effective. The practical implementation of the slot antenna to use on metal shelters, trucks, and armored vehicles appears to be relatively simple. (Modified author abstract)
