In the 2005 Norwegian Travel Survey 17,500 persons have been interviewed. This report presents results on domestic long distance travel (100 km crow files distance) and all international journeys irrespective of distance. Results show that domestic travel is characterized by more leisure trips than before and increased used of air transport. Air transport is used on 45 percent of trips 300 km and longer, compared to 42 percent four years ago. At the same time, car use has been reduced. In 2005, the Norwegian population made about 40 million international trips. Sweden is the most popular destination accounting for 64 percent of the trips. Denmark is the second largest destination (10 percent) and Finland is third (five percent). Shipping is the major purpose of trips made to Sweden (45 percent).
