A computerized simulation model TRAFSIM (Traffic Simulation) has been developed over the past several years at the Technical University of Delft. With this model it is possible to evaluate the performance of signalized intersections as a function of the actual traffic input and the actual traffic control strategy. The geometric design of the intersection and the traffic safety requirements are given as a basis-input. This first version of TRAFSIM is applied for individual control at isolated intersections but the elementary set up of the model has all the possibilities for coordinated control.
