A fixed base helicopter simulation was implemented which may be easily altered to represent a variety of conventional single rotor aircraft. Test subjects performed 90-second tracking tasks utilizing two cockpit displays for longitudinal control during landing approach. The performance data generated were compared with predicted values from an optimal pilot modeling technique. Tentative conclusions were drawn as to the effectiveness of each display as well as the predictive power of the pilot model.
