The purpose of the project was to determine an appropriate performance curve, or curves for Pennsylvania's pavements. To accomplish this, the Long Term Pavement Monitoring Program (LTPM) collected pavement condition data for 22 sites in Pennsylvania. These sites were constructed of reinforced cement concrete over the past 28 years. The data consisted of pavement history, deflection, skid, roughness, and traffic information. Curves representing general trends in pavement performance were generated by comparing Present Serviceability condition with cumulative traffic, and years of performance. A comparison was then made to the performance of existing pavements which were not included in the 22 LTPM sites, to confirm the generated performance curves to be representative of Pennsylvania pavements. Evaluation of the traffic and roughness data revealed pavement deterioration due to an increase in total traffic loadings. The evaluation of comparison sites confirmed the applicability of the LTPM results to the Pennsylvania pavements in general.
