The application of computational fluid dynamics methods in the analysis of the aerodynamic characteristics of missile configurations is reviewed. The aerodynamics of missile configurations concerns the flow about geometrically complex configurations to be analyzed for a broad range of the flight parameters. The flow can be very complex being dominated by vortical flow structures which at higher speed interact with shock waves. The capability of computational procedures to simulate missile aerodynamics is described. The advantages and disadvantages of using flow models of various levels of approximation are noted.
