Jackson County, North Carolina proposes to construct a new public use airport. The initial construction will result in development of a basic utility 2 airport adequate to accommodate approximately 95 percent of propeller aircraft under 12,500 pounds on a 24-hour basis. There will be about 108 acres of tree clearing; slightly increased intermittent noise levels due to operations of single and twin engine propeller driven aircraft; slightly increased air pollution due to operations of these aircraft; and short term adverse environmental effects associated with normal construction techniques.
