The Naval Navigation Depantment in Warminster, PA was formed in the early 60's as part of the Naval Air Development Center (NADC). Due to recent military base realignments the Department is currently known as NRaD Warminster, for short, or NCCOSC (Naval Command, Control and Ocean Surveillance Center) Research and Development at the Warminster Detachment. The Department played a key role in the development and improvement of navigation capabilities on Navy aircraft for over 30 years. This paper provides a history of the evolution in aircraft navigation technology as participated in and witnessed by the Naval Navigation Department at Warminster, PA.
