The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of ten wheeled and five tracked vehicles in the areal terrain factor complexes of the synthalogous (a coined word meaning 'synthetic and analogous') theater of operations (STOP) using the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) analytical model. Input data used by the model were (a) terrain data, (b) vehicle characteristics and performance data, and (c) terrain-vehicle performance relations. Predictions were made in terms of speed, fuel consumption rate, and delivery rate for each vehicle in each areal terrain factor complex of the temperate, tropical, and arid climates of the STOP during the dry and wet seasons.
