This report will allow those already familiar with basic electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles to appreciate the issues specific to the EMC of automotive vehicles, including: the very severe radiated EM environment they encounter; the difficulties of testing a large product at very high levels of radiated fields; the nature of the vehicle supply transients, and the need for achieving EMC at very low on-cost.
