The project, a link in the proposed construction of a modern transportation facility, will be of great value to the general environment. It will provide a safer route into Grand Canyon National Park and give the Navajo tribe, by leaving the present roadway in place, a safe route for moving livestock from range to range. Scarring of the natural landscape will occur due to cuts and fills necessary to construction. Construction will not impede the flow of traffic unduly since the old route will be left in place, thus obviating need for detours. Some low productivity grazing land will be lost for livestock use.
