This seminar was intended to be of special interest to those concerned with the collection and use of traffic data. The subject was discussed under the following main headings: Data requirements and census design; Equipment for acquiring traffic data; and Management of data systems. Most countries had similar approaches to the uses of traffic data, and about its importance, although there were differences in census design. The increasing cost of manual counting and decreasing costs of electronic equipment were factors which affected all countries. A number of topics on which continuing information exchange would be useful were identified.
