This study is an extension of previous IDA work (Paper P-2848) on improvements to the Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS). Part 1 of the current study identifies improvements to increase the coverage of CASS to include not only Navy avionics, for which the system was originally designed, but also the electronics of Navy ships, Marine Corps aircraft, and Marine Corps ground systems. Part 2 identifies software improvements to increase compatibility among different versions of CASS, to improve the general operability of the system, and to meet current DoD mandates that require commercial standards for electronics.
