The annual report of the Marine Board's Committee on Marine Structures contains its proposed research program for 5 fiscal years, 1990-1994, as well as descriptions of 15 recommended projects for fiscal year 1991, a listing of 23 active and pending projects, and a brief summary of 7 recently completed projects for the Ship Structure (SSC). (The SSC is a body through which the U.S. Coast Guard, Naval Sea Systems Command, Maritime Administration, American Bureau of Shipping, and Military Sealift Command coordinate their structural integrity research on marine structures.) The program is designed to accommodate advanced concepts and longrange planning, as well as research on loads, structural response to environmental loading, materials, fabrication and maintenance techniques, reliability, and design methods.
