The report presents the results of an experimental High Energy Rate Forming (HERF) Facility, constructed at the Naval Ordnance Station, Louisville (NOSL). The report includes the investigation and experimentation to determine the effectiveness of HERF, the training of personnel in HERF procedures and techniques, and the design and fabrication of a HERF facility. The feasibility study proved HERF was feasible and effective in forming and repairing certain new and used ordnance parts by using one of two types of high energy sources adopted by NOSL, Electromagnetic and Chemical.
