TRAX I is a combat game developed to train leaders of tank crews and platoons on Division '86 platoon tasks. The game uses components of the Dunn-Kempf game with modified rules and procedures providing one-sided controlled play. This report presents the methodology followed in developing the game. The background and objectives of the development are outlined, along with criteria sought in the final game. Procedures used in developing rules of play, controller procedures, training objectives, and exercise plans are described. Experience obtained in pilot studies and initial field trails with TRAX I is summarized.
