As a result of the increase of the average sector length flown by most international airlines, flight crew is exposed to the aircraft cabin environment for a longer period of time. The report reviews scientific literature with respect to the effects of prolonged (>8 hours) exposure to cockpit-environmental conditions on wellbeing and performance of flight crew. The effects of cabin pressure, relative humidity, ozone, cosmic radiation, noise and vibration are discussed in detail. Recommendations for future studies are formulated.
