The board of county commissioners, Okaloosa County, FL, has submitted a request for federal financial assistance under the Airport and Airways Development Act for a project to develop the existing general utility airport into a basic transport airport adequate to accommodate turbojet-powered airplanes up to 60,000 pounds gross weight on a 24-hour basis. There will be about 9.3 acres of tree clearing; increased intermittent noise levels, due to operations of turbojet-powered airplanes and slightly increased air pollution due to operations of these aircraft and 'short time' adverse environmental effects associated with normal construction techniques.
