The Strategic Air Command conducted a test to determine the feasibility of reducing the size of the KC-135 crew complement while maintaining mission effectiveness. This test investigated the possibility of using a three man crew (pilot, copilot, and boom operator) with the copilot assuming the navigation duties with the aid of a dual Inertial Navigation System (INS). The exercise term assigned the test was GIANT CHANGE.
