Flight simulators for research and development are indispensable as design tools in the development phase of aircraft. The National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL) has used a flight simulator for tests and research regarding the development and revamping of various aircraft since 1963, improving its simulation accuracy and scale. The original simulator became old and was no longer able to meet the demands for higher simulation test accuracy or for large equipment to be simulated. For this reason, the NAL decided to install a flight simulation test facility fully utilizing the latest technology. The functions, configuration and performance of the simulated cockpit equipment manufactured in 1980 and 1981 are described.
