During the two year period ending 31 March, 1972, ten small rocket payloads were developed and instrumented at the Space Science Laboratory, Utah State University, for the study of polar cap absorption events (PCA). These payloads are part of a continuing program for the development and improvement of small rocket measurements techniques and the investigation of PCA. Instruments were developed which measure electron, positive ion and ozone density, and proton flux. Seven of the ten payloads were launched from Thule, Greenland, and were highly successful. Results of this program have shown that small rockets are indeed a valuable tool for the study of ionospheric parameters. (Author)
