The scientific aims of the Injun 5 (Explorer 40 satellite) extended mission, a short description of the satellite, and its experiments (LEPEDEA, SSD, and VLF experiments) are presented, as well as the analog and digital data transmission system. Furthermore the behavior of the spacecraft during the extended mission is reported, and examples on data obtained on solar protons, chorus, polar cap absorption, and electron and proton precipitation are given.
