Six laboratories capable of testing a heavy-duty vehicle were asked to perform a series of transient and steady state tests for comparative purposes. The vehicle, a Ford L-9000 single axle tractor, was selected as typical of the heavy-duty fleet on American highways while presenting minimum difficulty for the participating laboratories. Emissions data from each lab were compiled and presented in graphical format with statistical analyses performed to gauge the repeatability and reproducibility of each lab's data. Results from the crosscheck were mixed with some measured emissions staying consistent levels throughout and some varying significantly.
