The report is one in a series of reports conducted as part of a two year Joint Industry Research Project 'Structural Maintenance for New and Existing Ships' initiated in June 1990 by the Department of Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering of the University of California at Berkeley to both develop practical tools and procedures for the analysis of proposed ship structural repairs and to prepare guidelines for the cost effective design and construction of lower-maintenance ship structures. This project was organized into six studies. The report documents results from Study 1 - Fatigue Damage Evaluations whose objective is to develop and verify guidelines for the evaluation of fatigue damage to critical structural components of existing ships. In particular, the user manual for the program PROSHIP is contained in this report. This includes a detailed description of the general purpose, the necessary input files and the file formats and a description of the produced output.
