The paper presents a comparative description of plumes emanating from different nozzles, similar to those of typical small hydrazine thrusters. The objective is to point out the effect of nozzle design on free jet expansion. The investigation shows that there exists an optimum nozzle wall angle which causes the minimal spreading plume. With increasing nozzle size and stagnation pressure the plume spreads significantly wider, and the optimum nozzles wall angles is marked more clearly, tending to somewhat lower values of that angle.
