This report documents the test plans, test results and analyses of a series of high speed bird impact tests conducted on the B-1 X-5 Module windshield and on 36 x 36 inch simulated windshield test specimens as a portion of the work accomplished for the 'Windshield Technology Demonstrator Program'. The testing, analyses and development accomplished during this program involved a total system approach required for aircraft windshields in the context of the continuing Air Force generic windshield development programs. Tests were conducted to evaluate the bird impact resistance of glass and plastic windshield panels and associated supporting structure being considered for use in the B-1 aircraft. Strain and deflection measurements were made on the test panels and supporting structure on most of the tests. A description of the tests and results obtained are presented. (Author)
