Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) was established on October 2003 as the single Navy-wide shore installation management organization. Its focus is on installation effectiveness and improving the shore installation management community's ability to support the fleet. Consolidation of contract actions is a major part of that objective for CNIC. This has a number of benefits.
